Located within one of Melbourne's Historic retail strips, the Smith Street project is a large site of over 6100m2 and frontage to Smith Street of over 120m. The project complexity starts with the integration of existing historic building facades including the first Coles Supermarket built in 1914 and extends to the interface with the Foy and Gibson residential conversion buildings at the rear. The key elements of the project include a mixture of retail, commercial and residential spaces over a basement car park consisting of a 4200m Supermarket, 800m2 Retail, 500m2 Commercial Offices and 240 Apartments. The basement includes 425 car spaces. The design solution seeks to introduce a strategy similar in scale, rhythm and arrangement to that of the existing diversity along Smith Street through contemporary materials and façade elements.
